In yesterday’s post, I shared how I coached my Realtor friend on how to get her career on track to meet her September 2013 goal of making $8000 a month or more on a regular basis.
We identified the groups and activities she enjoys being part of and then created a plan to market directly to them.
Why do affinity groups work so well?
Let me show you what happened next. So the next day, after meeting with Lana, I hosted my one-on-one calls for the CT REIA Fast-Track Team Coaching Program. And a lightbulb went off.
Most people coming into the Coaching Program are successful in at least one area of life… and they have lots of transferable skills to have them be successful in real estate. However, NO ONE KNOWS THEY WANT TO BUY REAL ESTATE!
So, I asked “Joanna”, what do you do for fun? What social activities do you participate with? What professional skills do you have?
And, among others, she told me she is a Ballroom Dancer! And also, that unfortunately, she is a widow at a relatively young age. Perfect, I said. Here is the plan we created:
- Create business cards saying “Ballroom Dancer Buys Houses”.
- She is going to identify groups where Ballroom Dancers hang out.
- She is going to find out if she can get a list of people in her area who both own a house and do ballroom dancing so she can mail something to them.
- She will do similar activities for widowers. After all, widowers are often in a transition with their home. And they will trust Joanne easier to help them make the choices they need to make because she has already walked in their shoes.
Now, how about you?
Tomorrow, I am going to share why Affinity Groups work so well for marketing your business.
